What’s New in August News

The Justin Ancheta Band is really kickin’ these days with weekly rehearsals, new merchandise, new mixes, and a kick-ass line-up of amazing musicians.  Here’s a bit of August news to tell you what we’re up to and to talk about A Place for Sustainable Living, our benefit of the month.

Thanks for the Awakening!

Before we get to anything else, we want to thank each and every one of you for coming to our show at Awaken Café last Friday.  We had a packed house and it was a great vibe — we couldn’t have done it without you.

If you have photos or videos from the event, don’t be shy about posting them to Facebook — we’d love to see what it looked like from your angle. Here is one Amanda Amid took of ‘counter culture’: http://youtu.be/HU2rSCtWoRI

Upcoming Gigs

We have a couple shows on the books in August:

It’s a light month for us, but that’s because we’re lining up some bigger events in September and October.  Stay tuned for those, but this is also a nice chance for us to create and for you to see us in some smaller venues.  We hope to see you there!

Some smaller acoustic venues such as:

  • August 9th: Justin Ancheta is celebrating his birthday by doing a house concert in East Bay: https://www.facebook.com/events/766429873378666/
  • August 29th: Justin Ancheta acoustic at Harbin Hot Springs in the Temple House
  • August 31st: Glen Park Station in San Francisco, Justin Ancheta will be doing an acoustic show 8-11 pm, Memorial Day Weekend.

CD Collaboration with Rock The Bike

The Justin Ancheta Band is going to be one of the featured bands on the Rock The Bike‘s new collaboration CD “Live & Pedal Powered at the Maker Faire.” More news on that soon.

New Videos

New videos are in the mix. Here is one of the edits combining a party in the woods with The Justin Ancheta Band at the Great American Music Hall footage.

Benefit of the Month

The Justin Ancheta Band is partnering to help promote a Place for Sustainable Living, where Shake Your Peace! is doing a benefit show to uplift the local community and support ecotopianism thoughts and ideas. Here is a link if you want to RSVP.

The Place for Sustainable Living does some amazing work.  Affectionately referred to as “The Place”, they “foster sustainable living practices through art, community and ecology”.  What that means is that they are continually putting on educational workshops, exhibits, and classes for everyone to come and learn.

Among the many events they sponsor are educational exhibits on rainwater collection, gray water systems, urban farming, gardening workshops, resiliency response teams.  ‘The Place’ also sports a ‘Maker’s Place’, a ‘Fab Lab’, an art barn, community shop spaces, many community art projects and a sculpture garden. Also calling The Place home is ‘Spokeland’, a not-for-profit, community-driven bicycle cooperative.  All in all, an astounding number of really amazing things coming out from this group.

Not only are they are a vibrant part of our neighborhood through their activism, but they are literally neighbors.  Our band’s headquarters is right next to A Place For Sustainable Living’s urban compound.  We couldn’t be happier to have such wonderful neighbors!

Check out their latest events on their calendar and get involved!
